Refining Agent can make the structure of aluminum alloy ingots uniform and small, fully deteriorated, and free of slag inclusions and other defects.
Deslagging and degassing are two important and difficult points in the purification of aluminum alloy melt. The refining flux used in the purification process needs to be put into the refining basket and sent to the melt in the furnace for slag removal. This traditional flux has poor slagging effect and inconvenient operation in practical applications. The oxidized slag can’t be removed completely, and the formed slag is not easy to separate from the aluminum melt, and the slag contains more aluminum liquid, which causes metal waste.
Two steps are used: furnace refining and ladle refining: first melt the aluminum alloy ingot in the aluminum melting furnace, control the temperature of the aluminum liquid between 760-780°C, and under the protection of high-purity nitrogen or other inert gases, Add 30-50wt% aluminum shavings into the rapidly rotating molten aluminum, use an aluminum alloy compound refiner to refine and remove slag from the molten aluminum in the aluminum melting furnace, add 15-4^g/time of conventional slag cleaning agent, reduce refining agent The addition speed is 1-1. ^g/min, each refining is 5-35min, the pressure is controlled at 0.01-0. 08MPa, and the refining is 2_5 times every 8 hours. When the molten aluminum refined in the furnace is poured into the ladle, 1-2. 5kg of conventional slag cleaning agent is added to the ladle, and nitrogen at the bottom of the ladle is used for degassing, and the degassing time is 5-8min.
Let’s introduce the purification process of Refining Agent used by Chinese aluminum plants.
1. Melt the aluminum alloy ingot in an aluminum melting furnace, the molten aluminum temperature is 770°C, and under the protection of high-purity nitrogen or other inert gases, add 30wt% aluminum scrap into the rapidly rotating molten aluminum. The aluminum scrap is used The spraying method is added to the molten aluminum, and the angle between the spraying direction and the horizontal plane is 45° -90°. The position of spraying aluminum chips is 5-15cm away from the surface of the molten aluminum.
The aluminum alloy compound refiner is used to refine and remove the slag of the molten aluminum in the aluminum melting furnace. The conventional slag cleaning agent is added 30kg/time, and the reducing refining agent is added at a speed of 1kg/min, each refining 30min, and the pressure is controlled at 0. 06MPa, each Refined 2 times in 8 hours.
When the molten aluminum refined in the furnace is poured into the ladle, 1.5 kg of conventional slag cleaning agent is added to the ladle, and nitrogen at the bottom of the ladle is used for degassing, and the degassing time is 8 min.
After degassing, put the master alloy and Refining Agent into the ladle.
After degassing, use special tools to remove slag. Finally, take samples for hydrogen and chemical composition analysis. Qualified molten aluminum is supplied to the low-pressure casting machine.
2. Melt the aluminum alloy ingot in an aluminum melting furnace, the temperature of the aluminum liquid is 770°C, and under the protection of high-purity nitrogen or other inert gas, add 40% aluminum scraps into the rapidly rotating aluminum liquid, using aluminum alloy The compound refiner refines and removes slag from the molten aluminum in the aluminum melting furnace.
The conventional slag cleaning agent was added times, the reducing refining agent was added at a speed of 1.5 kg/min, each refining was 35 min, the pressure was controlled at 0.06 MPa, and the refining was 3 times every 8 hours.
